Xiaomi Plans To Take Legal Action Against Unauthorised Importers In India

xiaomi mobileChinese phonemaker Xiaomi can’t sell its MediaTek based smartphones in India due to an ongoing patents case in the Delhi High Court from Ericsson, but that hasn’t stopped others from importing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G which runs on a MediaTek processor.
Xiaomi plans to take legal action against these resellers for using its name in the name of the sites, trying to pass themselves off as official marketplaces.
The Mediatek-powered smartphones were being sold by Xiaomishop.com, which as per the Chinese company, is not an authorised seller of their products. Manu jain, head of India operations at Xiaomi, said that they are infringing on the company’s trademarks and making the world believe that it’s an authorised Xiaomi site. The products sold on this website are not meant for India and the website is also selling the products at higher rates.
The company has already written to the website several times but now they have decided to move head legally against them. Jain further added, though the site has stop functioning by now, the company will still take legal action against them along with 4-5 other sites as well. Only Flipkart and Airtel are the authorised Xiaomi sellers in India. Xiaomi is also in talks with manufacturing partners Foxconn and Inventec to set up a manufacturing base in India, which is the second most important market for the company after China.
Xiaomi will also set up Mi.com, its own e-commerce site to sell products including its Ivs, routers and other goodies. Mi.com is expected to be launched in 2015 and it will continue operating along with Flipkart, as per Jain.

eScan assures a completely secured computing environment to Lenovo Laptop users. A complex piece of adware in Lenovo laptops, named Superfish, has been creating havoc in the cyber security landscape. Initially not accepting the fact that Superfish was an IT security concern when questioned by Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), Lenovo has now admitted that a piece of adware installed itself via man-in-the-middle (MITM) proxy service and hijacked SSL/TLS connections.
Superfish that belongs to Adware family of programs, was pre-installed on Lenovo laptops. Adware, as such are highly intrusive, however the manner in which Superfish has been injecting their own advertisements into highly secured data-streams, leaves a huge question unanswered, i.e. Right to Privacy.  Apart from being an Adware, Superfish had certain vulnerabilities which made these Laptop users vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks.
Researchers have dug out the password used to encrypt the security certificates used by Superfish, which theoretically would assist in unlocking the certificate authority and bypass the computer’s web encryption. Armed with right skill-set and tools, a skilled hacker on the same Wi-Fi network as a Superfished laced Lenovo, can potentially insert malware and spy on these unsuspecting users. Effectively, this bug nullifies whatsoever form of security that has been provided by secure websites. The websites can range from your web-based mail servers, like gmail.com and outlook.com, to shopping and banking websites.

Budget 2015: The Expectations Of Mobile Handset Makers!

unnamedIn the upcoming Union Budget for 2015-16, mobile handset makers like Micromax and Karbonn have asked for tax holidays and subsidies in order to promote local manufacturing that is expected to boost job creation.

India is one of the fastest growing mobile phone market in the world but still it lags behind China as majority of handset makers including the Indian brands manufacture their devices in China. It’s very essential that the government provides a filip to the manufacturing sector in the country by making its policies more powerful and competitive too, as opined by Micromax chairman Sanjay Kapoor. He added that he hopes that the government will no more stick to their age-old policies and help in motivating the sector and formulate more supportive rules and regulations to speed up the eco-system in order to promote manufacturing of smart devices in the country.

Kapoor also said that if the government fails to comply with the demands then it will be difficult for smartphone manufacturers to provide the latest technology at affordable prices, that’s an aim of the Digital India initiative. Karbonn MD Pradeep Jain also said that indigenous products will help the country to realise the vision of programmes like Digital India and Make in India, and mobile and Internet will expand their reach to more vast consumers. He said that the government is expected to introduce some friendly policies in Budget 2015 that will include tax holidays and interest subsidies to give a huge boost to domestic handset manufacturing and increase the mobile phone user base in India.


Benefits from such policies include more employment opportunities, higher quality of products and affordable pricing, as explained by Videocon Mobile Phones chief executive Jarold Pereira. Karbonn’s Jain also said that the government should ease the financing options furthermore in case of mobility goods like mobile devices and tablets and establish India as a global power in the international mobile market. Maxx Mobile chairman and MD Ajay Agarwal also hopes that custom duty will also be increased on imports for mobile handsets. The government is also expected to offer ESOPS, subsidies on investments and incentives for Indian mobile manufacturers.

Infosys_ BPOIT services major Infosys today said paints and coatings maker AkzoNobel has extended partnership with its subsidiary Infosys BPO.

Tata Communications continues growth trajectory in Q3 FY15

Tata Communications announces its financial results for the quarter (Q3) and nine months (9M) ended December 31st 2014.
Highlights for Q3 FY2015
* Consolidated revenue stood at INR 49,145 million (USD 794 million @average INR/USD exchange rate of 61.91)
* Consolidated EBITDA margins improved by 130 basis points QoQ to 16.3%
* Consolidated PAT stood at INR 1,085 million (USD 17.9 million)
Highlights for 9M FY2015
* Consolidated revenue from operations improved by 4.8% YoY to INR 1,50,978 million (USD 2,485 million @average INR/USD exchange rate of 60.76)
* Consolidated EBITDA grew by 0.5% YoY at Rs. 22,724 million (USD 374 million)
* Consolidated PAT stood at INR 1,795 million (USD 30 million)
* Core business revenue from operations grew by 4.3% YoY while the start-up business revenues were up by 9.4% YoY
A significant increase in data revenues coupled with an upswing in the enterprise segment especially from managed services were the main contributors to the robust growth in performance. The enterprise segment posted an increase in enterprise data revenues for the nine months period by 24% over the corresponding period last year – a growth that supersedes the average industry growth.
Improved operational execution in the data segment strengthened the EBITDA margins to 21% for the quarter. The voice business continues to be a steady generator of free cash in spite of a decline in volumes. Core business profitability is on an upward trajectory with PAT coming in at INR 389 million for the quarter (USD 6 million), up 27.6% QoQ, a significant turnaround from the corresponding period last year.

Limca Book of Records* recognises and certifies Konica Minolta for the largest media display created on glass facade ever. This has been done on Dhaula Kuan Metro station in New Delhi.
Konica Minolta marked its successful culmination of marketing campaign by gaining entry to the *Limca Book of Records* for the largest display on the glass facade. The display was installed byJC Decaux Advertising India Pvt. Ltd. on April 15, 2014 which measures 100.58m (330ft) wide and 12.8m (42ft) high.
Similar to the Guinness Book of World Records, the *LimcaBook of Records *emphasises the unique achievements of Indians at home and abroad.

Dell India Leads in the x86 Server Market

Dell India announced that it was the No.1 x86 server vendor in India in revenue terms in Q3 2014 based on  IDC’s Asia/Pacific Quarterly x86 Server Strategist Tracker, Q3 2014 (July – Sept 2014) December release. Dell cornered 38% revenue share of the India x86 server market in Q3 2014 which was more than 6 points higher than the #2 ranked vendor in the market.

Kaspersky Lab arming students to fight CYBER CRIME

Kaspersky Lab’s latest research on children’s Internet usage preferences showed that that young children often surf the internet in search of games, toys and apps without realizing the threats environments. It is due to reasons like these Kaspersky Lab held an event titled Cybersecurity and Children at Cambridge School in Mumbai, part of the Ryan International
Group of institutions, to educate the students so that they can enjoy a safer Internet experience by giving basic understanding of the principles of Internet safety to the children and their parents.
Through a presentation and participation by both the students and their parents, Kaspersky Lab spread awareness of online threats and ways in which the digital environment can be navigated safe and securely. A wide range of topics were covered such as Managing Your Digital Footprint, Safe Social Networking and Tips to Protect Your Smartphone, to name a few. The idea was to bring the entire family into the conversation because once you are on a home Wi-Fi network, a father’s smartphone and a childs iPad are both equally vulnerable to cybercriminals.
Kaspersky Kids, an awareness initiative on cybersecurity issues for children, was launched in July 2014 in the presence of Kaspersky Lab Founder, Eugene Kaspersky and Ryan Pinto, CEO, Ryan International Group of institutions. Since the launch, Kaspersky Lab has been regularly undertaking cybersecurity education programme to sensitize parents, teachers and students on digital threats, through interactive content and contest, Kaspersky Kids has impacted more than 1,25,000 students.

Russia Woos Indian IT with Attractive Investment Programmes

Citrix Data Reveal New Global Trends

Citrix  published the Citrix Mobile Analytics Report for the first half of 2015. For the first time, the Mobile Analytics Report addresses both mobile subscriber and business mobility trends, drawing on data from a global cross-section of mobile network operators and enterprises. The report provides valuable insight into the latest mobility trends that impact consumers, enterprises and mobile operators across the entire mobile ecosystem.
Key findings from the report include:
iPhone 6 Plus Generates 2X the Data of iPhone 6
Mobile subscribers that own an iPhone 6 Plus use twice as much data as iPhone 6 users – a difference attributable to more video viewing on the larger screen. Both subscribers and enterprise IT departments need to be aware of how phablet-sized devices impact mobile data pricing plans and enterprise budgets.
Mobile Experience Defined by Video
As mobile data consumption grows, the mobile user experience is, increasingly, a video experience. To illustrate, the top five mobile games ranked by data volume now all contain video, compared to only two of the top five in Q1 2014. Further, sports-related video content on mobile has more than doubled, from 21 percent of all sports content over mobile in Q3 2014 to 50 percent in Q1 2015. As video becomes ubiquitous on mobile, video optimization will play a key role in ensuring an acceptable experience for both consumers and enterprises.
Number of Managed Devices Nearly Doubled for Businesses
The number of enterprise-managed devices has increased 72 percent year-over-year, and clear regional and vertical trends are emerging: iOS remains the dominant mobile platform in the enterprise at 64 percent worldwide, Android is gaining popularity in Asia, and Windows is more than twice as popular in EMEA (16 percent) as it is in North America (7 percent). Deeper analysis also shows that the distribution of mobile OS platforms vary by industry segment with 71 percent of managed devices in the financial industry being on iOS and 39 percent penetration of managed Android devices in healthcare. Further, the latest findings in the report highlight the dual whitelisting and blacklisting of productivity and collaboration apps across organizations – a sign of both growing sophistication in the way many enterprises empower and manage employee mobility.

Canon breaks new ground with the 50.6-megapixel EOS 5D range and the 11–24mm ultra wide-angle zoom lens. Canon launched the EOS 5DSR and EOS 5DS – two flagship EOS cameras equipped with a 50.6-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor with dual DIGIC 6 image processors, the highest resolution in Canon’s extensive range of DSLR cameras to date. With Optical Low-Pass Filter cancellation (LPF), the EOS 5DSR captures incredibly detailed and sharp images, alternatively the EOS 5DS reduces the moiré effect using the optical LPF. This dynamic duo is well suited for users who take still landscape and studio photos, as well as commercial images for large-With a 50.6-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor, the EOS 5DSR and EOS 5DS have by far the highest resolution in Canon’s history of EOS cameras. At this sensor resolution, images that are dramatically trimmed or cropped will still retain optimum quality and details for print.
Both cameras incorporate technologies to enhance image resolution with minimal side-effects. High performance, Unrivalled Shooting Agility and Precision Powered by the advanced Dual DIGIC 6 image processors, both the EOS 5DSR and EOS 5DS produce a high-speed readout capability and maximum continuous shooting speed of 5 frames per second (fps), despite the large image data size that comes with 50.6-megapixel image quality. The AF system in these cameras is a high-precision 61-point high-density reticular AF on par with that of the EOS 5D Mark III. It responds sensitively to subject distance and adjusts automatically – even with the subtlest changes in composition. With the EOS iTR (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition) system, the cameras ensure moving subjects will be actively kept in sharp focus.
Equally nimble, the camera’s AE (automatic exposure) system uses a 150,000-pixel RGB + IR metering sensor that splits the scene into 252 areas. Each of these areas is analysed for the correct exposure settings, taking into account visible and infrared light, thus achieving far more accurate metering.
To meet the varied needs of users, a unique Custom Quick Control feature has been introduced in the EOS 5DSR and EOS 5DS. The Custom Quick Control screen is an easily accessible information screen for the user to customize their preferred settings. Settings such as aperture, shutter speed, shooting mode and focus mode can be toggled on and off for the screen to display only the most important information. The layout of the screen can also be customized for users to adjust the size and placement of the items, according to their preferences. Taking advantage of the ultra-high resolution capability of EOS 5DSR and EOS 5DS, the new Crop Shooting function offers users the option to crop images for a pseudo telescopic effect when a longer lens is not immediately available.
With the 1.3x and 1.6x crop modes enabled, users can still capture a stunningly high 30.5-Megapixels and 19.6-Megapixels image respectively.
With the ability to take photos in ultra-high resolution, the EOS 5DSR and EOS 5DS produce images at a quality close to that of medium format cameras, along with several significant advantages. Both cameras are versatile, as their relatively superior AF and continuous shooting ability makes them adept at shooting both moving objects and still landscapes. Additionally, with Canon’s wide range of EF lenses available, users of the EOS 5DSR and EOS 5DS will be able to enjoy a wide variety of shooting perspectives.
