Huawei Chairwoman Sun Yafang Meets Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Huawei Chairwoman, Madam Sun Yafang, met the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a visit by the Prime Minister to China. At a session attended by several Chinese company CEOs, Madam Sun and Prime Minister Modi discussed the crucial role of the ICT sector in the plans of India’s new government, and Huawei’s desire and ability to support the government’s “Digital India“ and “ Make in India” initiatives.
Madam Sun said, “We are confident about India’s tremendous potential for economic development. Huawei will continue to be an enabler for Digital India, a key contributor to the country’s economy, and a responsible corporate citizen, bringing socio-economic value to India to support the government’s agenda.”
India is one of global strategic markets for the company. As a leading global ICT solutions provider, Huawei provides leading ICT technologies and innovation-led product design and development. Huawei has been serving India’s major telecom operators to help the country build world-class ICT infrastructure. Huawei is a partner in the government’s Digital India initiative.
Since the establishment of its Indian subsidiary in 1999, Huawei has worked with local telecom operators to provide services to 300 million Indian customers. It has also provided online education for over 100,000 students in 1,500 schools in India to help them better connect with the world. The company has been operating in India for 16 years and also employs more than 5,700 people there, 92% of whom are local. Huawei’s Indian operations include a manufacturing unit in Chennai, a Global Resource Center and a Global Network Operation Center in Bangalore.
Looking ahead, Huawei will continue working together with Indian customers and partners to achieve mutual development and win-win outcomes for the two sides, and contributing to the development of local economy and industries as a responsible corporate citizen.
